Is this really necessary?
Does everyone need to start their own thread now assessing the situation?
I take exception to this:
LSU eventually needs to realize that football and basketball, the two highest revenue NCAA sports can co-exist and invest in both programs and reap the rewards.

It was Emmert in 1999 that valued the economic return that could be gained by investing in the football program. That along with TAF introduced the glory days of LSU football and the windfall it has produced.
Could LSU hire someone to do a better job (recruit, coach)? I doubt it.
