Just to offer some clarification... There's no real reason to be brand loyal when it comes to computers. All of the parts are sourced from and assembled at the same handful of factories. Quanta and Compal are the two largest PC builders in the world, and of course Foxconn is the biggest electronics OEM.
There will be differences in design and component priority at multiple price points, but ultimately you will get what you pay for across all brands, and those brands sell so many variations that it's impossible to rely on broad anecdotal evidence.

I would stay away from the hps. They are currently having issues with the screen hinges. I have had to repair a few out of warrenty
