Boosting WiFI signal help

Been working a Mancave/hangout area at the back of the home. Want to be able to stream LSU games, Saints games, music, etc out there. I've noticed a bit of a lag when just playing music so I'm sure if I try to stream a game of any kind it will be slow and poor quality. It's about 50-75ft from the modem.
Currently I have Cox internet and my current package has Up to 15 Mbps download. Up to 2 Mbps upload.
Would upping my internet package be better or could I just buy a wifi booster that would do just about the same? How would you go about assuring you get the best quality out there?

It doesn't hurt to upper the speed. You also need to get a better router.

If you are having Wifi issues you can bump your speed all you want and you won't see the boost you hope for.

PowerLine adapter or get a better router with antennas. Netgear AC1750 or Archer c7.
