Im not trying to start a war here but I'm curious, if you can buy a dedicated smoker and a dedicated grill for less than the cost of the egg what is the big advantage? is it having the ability to do all that on one?

I'd get one for the sake of the extra space a smoker takes up. And if is holds heat as well as they say you only need to check 3-4 times a cook and not ever 30 min- hour.

Ceramics are very efficient at burning wood. They burn wood slowly. You can control the temps very well. You can burn a long time, many times 12+ hours. The air flow through the ceramics is slow due and therefore the meat stays moist.
A person very good with a grill might see limited improvement on cooking. The average person grilling will see a significantly better food coming off a ceramic. This is why they are so popular. In addition, they should last 20+ years...
