It certainly won't be because we're one of the most deserving teams, but because of the Simmons factor. If you're on the committee and want to select entertaining and watchable matchups, who better to kick off the tournament, than a controversial bubble team with the #1 pick in the upcoming draft.

Again, this isn't saying we're the most deserving, but for the first time I can remember, the opening night of games will actually have star power and decent ratings.

We continue to play like we did Saturday, and there's not a chance we make it.

Because I'm a self aggrandizing chooch monkey that wants to point to this thread to show I was correct a few weeks from now. About 90 percent of our fans don't see the big picture of what drives the NCAA tournament. Ratings.

I'm not one to make bold predictions and really don't see this as one, but I really think we'll be invited.

Is that honest enough?

I hope you're right but I doubt you are. In order for the committee to make that decision they will also have to discuss the team that actually does deserve to make it and gets left out for "entertainment" purposes... highly unlikely they do that in my opinion.

I'm also not sure I'd consider LSU basketball watchable right now.

Simmons, on this team, isn't that fun to watch.

Maybe for LSU fans, but the rest of the country wants to see him play in the tournament.

You never know - he might ball out on the big stage. Maybe LeBron can show him how to shoot.

If I hear one more person talk about the Simmons factor... It is so overblown.

I'll support them in the nit! Hopefully we can win it and maybe it will propel us to more success next year!

I hate to agree with this statement, but you're right. Still, the committee will have the option of putting the #1 pick in an opening night game where ratings haven't been stellar. If you're on the committee, LSU would offer something other bubble teams can't, the #1 pick and the ratings that ensue.

Not a chance. The committee will lose all credibility if they let a team in just because of one player. Don't get me wrong, I would love for LSU to make it in, but I don't see it happening.

Don't buy it.

The NCAA Tournament doesn't need help with the ratings.
