Nice try. I love braveheart. On the other hand, the Patriot is so overwrought it's unintentionally hilarious.

Braveheart is a historical epic that happens to take a few dramatic liberties.

The Patriot is a crappy action movie masquerading as a historical epic and crammed full of every cliche imaginable. Every death is transparently exploitative. The acting is cartoonishly over the top, the dialogue is terrible, and it fails miserably in trying to address difficult historical issues. Example: How do we handle the whole issues of slavery? Easy, have a token black guy make an appearance at the end and utter laughable dialogue (something about 'I reckon' from what i recall). Problem solved!
