Hmmm. Would have been an interesting deal, particularly when you figure we could have gotten a similar deal for Kimbrel that the Padres did.

Still think I like our overall package better, but then I'm not really sold on Sanchez at all or Judge's ability to stick in the corner OF defensively long term.

Wisler looks good today. Newcomb on the other hand sucked balls again.

Adonis Garcia continues to hit.

I don't know about you, but I'm really glad that trade didn't go down. This is what we did instead:

Jason Heyward (with Jordan Walden)
Andrelton Simmons (with Jose Briceno)
David Carpenter (with Chasen Shreve)
B.J. Upton (with Craig Kimbrel)
Chris Johnson

for

Shelby Miller (for one season)
Tyrell Jenkins (Number 8 rated prospect)
Ender Inciarte
Dansby Swanson (Number 1 rated prospect)
Aaron Blair (Number 4 rated prospect)
Erick Aybar
Sean Newcomb (Number 2 rated prospect)
Chris Ellis (Number 14 rated prospect)
Manny Banuelos (Number 9 rated prospect)
Matt Wisler
Draft Pick (that became Austin Riley, the Number 7 rated prospect)
Cameron Maybin (for one season)
Ian Krol
Nick Swisher
Michael Bourn
SIGNIFICANT SALARY RELIEF

The #Braves don't currently have an obvious roster spot for Francoeur or Swisher. But if one opens, Frenchy would get the nod.

Just my .02, but I'd think Frenchy or Swisher as a bench bat would be better than Bourn and Bonafacio.

Should we be worried about Newcomb?

I'm not really. He was struggling with command against AA hitters I didn't expect him to get it corrected against big leaguers.

It is a little concerning that he seems to have a very clean delivery from all reports so I'm not sure how you fix the issues.

Looks that way.

Sidenote, Wood was scratched to the ever dangerous left forearm soreness.

ETA: I am editing the roster as the cuts come in, in the OP.

I think we have a decent lineup (not other worldly or anything) but that rotation scares the hell out of me. I don't see a 15 game winner in there

Went to the game today and met Mallex, Ozzie and Tyrell. Didn't get pics or autos but it was a good time. If you haven't come down here for spring training you need to do so.

Hitting up Washington at Houston tomorrow followed by Toronto at New York and then I believe Detroit at Pittsburgh later this week

Depends on what you are hoping for I guess. No reason he can't post an OPS right around .800 with 15ish HRs IMO. Not likely to be a stud, but no reason he can't be a valuable player right now.
