The whole league is waiting to see if ATL is breaking it up. That could start a lot of balls rolling.

TigerinATL... tell me what you think about this hypothesis as to what the Cavs are probably thinking. BirdWrite's touched on it briefly.

Cavs want Asik, because they can sign him into the Haywood trade exception, and because they really have no way to sign someone in the offseason to replace Mozgov's minutes, for as LITTLE as Asik actually costs.

They are willing to take him, and we end up with a trade exception... Straight up.
We get out of the Asik deal for free, if that is what we want.
but Dell doesn't want to be the one without a center next year. He wants Mozgov.

But the Cavs need to use the exception to sign their center, and then move Mozgov for a guard that can help right now in a separate transaction. Could we trade Asik into the exception, and then swap Cole for Mozgov? Maybe. If nobody else is willing to help the Cavs.

Are there any other bigs that could help the Cavs this year and beyond? that would fit in that exception... YES... just one... his name is Tiago Splitter.

If ATL is breaking up the team, we might be screwed.
They could swap Tiago into the exception for nothing. Then send Korver for Mozgov. Less years on Tiago than Asik, but more years on Korver... and they are both better options for this years run.

Then ATL trades Millsap and Teague to BKN for Joe Johnson's expiring and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, + 2017 1st BKN or 2017 1st BOS + 2017 2nd BOS.

Then they are down to whatever they get for Horford...Mozgov's bird rights...
Bunch of great guys on super cheap deals. Dennis Schroder, Thabo Sefolosha, Kent Bazemore, Mike Scott, Walter Tavares.... and then about $80 million in cap to redo the team. Could they really go from the playoffs, to scorched earth? I hope not.
