OT Contractors - Kitchen renovation costs

I am about to put a bid in for an apartment and was wondering what the cost would be to renovate the kitchen excluding the labor. How much should I expect to spend on cabinets and appliances? I know the range can vary, but I am hoping to keep the appliance budget under $5,000 and the cabinets under $6,000. The kitchen is 7'3" by 12'3". The appliances are a range, fridge, microwave and dishwasher. Are my budgets low?

with no labor costs?
We remodeled my kitchen ourselves, which was much larger than yours, and materials plus appliances were around $8k
are you buying pre-made cabinets or building yourself?

Should I stick with the same manufacturer for the appliances? The labor is going to cost a ton up here.
ETA: I am getting a bid for the labor.

pre-made. I could make them myself, but I think that would be grounds for divorce.

Cabinets can range roughly $120-$150 per foot. Paint grade would be on the lower end and stain grade would be toward the higher end. Depending on how fancy you get with them they could be over $150 as well.

pre-made
ok then your material costs are going to go way up then
though your labor costs will go down as well if you hire someone

Sounds like you've over-budgeted which is good

I hope. We are expecting it to cost somewhere around $20-$25k for everything.

Your budget should be plenty. You need to add some money for paint / stain unless the cabinets are prefinished.
Also which type of countertops?
Labor to install appliances? DIY.

Probably go with granite. We plan to be there for about 5-6 years so I don't want to go too crazy

Stainless appliances shouldn't cost more than 2k.
I've seen stainless range, dishwasher, microwave packages for $1100.

As mentioned, your budget sound reasonable.
New lighting fixtures can also upgrade a dated-home.
Do you have "popcorn" ceilings i.e acoustic blown-on sheetrock mud on the ceiling.
If so, smoothing the ceiling would be priority. I saw a vacum-ceiing sander recently on the inter webs that smooths it out.

Kitchens average about 20k so what you budgeted should cover.

No popcorn ceilings. We are sanding and refinishing the floor, replacing door frames and doors and reglazing the tub. We will renovate the bathroom in a couple of years.
We just hope that the seller accepts our bid.
