Who likes a plaque on their shoulder mounts. Seems like alot of people are getting them without one.

That's a no for me. I don't even like a board. Just give me the form with my Deers antlers and hide attached and I'm good.

I had a plaque put on the one I killed last season. Looking back, I won't do it again. It doesn't look bad, but it's not something I want again.

I have always liked them with the plaque better...just traditional, I guess...

You can take the plaque off if you want to.

I have one being mounted now and opted for the board. I still don't know how I feel about that, but I'm as fickle as they come.

Yeah, my others have the plaque so i might as get one for the one im getting mounted now. Like bucktail said they just screw off so i might as well pay 25 more dollars and get it.

Without. Should be cheaper that way as well.

I agree with that..

I can't agree with that. If I have $437.50 per lb tied up in a deer, I'm not gonna worry about a $25 board. In other words, get what you want/like/prefer, at that purnt, not the time to be cheap.

It has been my experience that most taxidermist price their mounts with the board initially. My point was that without the board, most taxidermist deduct that $25-$35 off from the mount cost. Not being cheap just a plus to the no board style.

I also prefer them w/o board,, I like them to look like they are looking out of my wall.

But,,,,

Again, I'm tighter than most, but if I kill a good enough deer to replace one on my walls,, $25 doesn't even enter in my thoughts. You can eat at Ruth's steak house quite a few times for the same per lb cost, either way, deer or filet, at that point, I'm getting what I want.

Taxidermist told me that it takes away from the lines and contour of the deer, and the plaque becomes the focal point. Without makes it look like the deers rear end is on tbe other side of wall. Looks nicer in house without plaque.

All three of mine have the plaque and one has an over sized one with the hooves turned up for a gun rack.

Like the big back plaques. Classy look with a certain ambiance of prestige when they are on a nice dark stained wood piece

Jmo, but, my "ambience of prestige" comes from the amount of bone on there, not stained wood,, but, each to his own..
