I'm new to tigerdroppings so I'd like to say hi. With the milestone 50th Super Bowl approaching, it got me thinking about past Super Bowl teams, including those who lost. Much has been made about what are the best Super Bowl winners ever, but what about the best losers? It's a topic that's intrigued me for some time.

Well, here's my list of what I think are the 15 best Super Bowl losers: 1. '78 Cowboys, 2. '14 Seahawks, 3. '84 Dolphins, 4. '12 49ers, 5. '09 Indy Colts, 6. '83 Redskins, 7. '07 Patriots, 8. '68 Balt. Colts, 9. '01 Rams, 10. '90 Bills, 11. '97 Packers, 12. '69 Vikings, 13. '88 Bengals, 14. '99 Titans, 15. '02 Raiders

Yes I know what you're thinking. How come the '07 Patriots are at #7? To me they seemed too finesse, too cosmetic with great passing numbers, a lot like this year's Cardinals. All sizzle, no steak. What I liked in the '78 Cowboys and '14 Seahawks is that they were champions the year before and really could've won it again but came up short at the end.

The way I see it, to be on a list like mines you have to be so good that you could beat Super Bowl winners in other years.

So, who do you have on your list?

If Panthers lose how high up the list do you think they should go? What Super Bowl losers can beat them whether or not they beat the Broncos?

I say the Vikings, since they had so much practice at losing the SB.

Not the SB, but when the Bears beat the crap out of the Saints in the NFCCCG.

And yet, they were 18-0 going into the super bowl. What the hell is steak if that isn't it?

'99 Titans. They lost by literally 1 or 2 feet.

Most exciting finish to SB (PIT-Ari) close 2nd

ETA: 4) '12 niners ???? Sunk you list early. Re-evaluate.

78 cowboys lost because of a dropped pass in the end zone by Jackie smith.

68 Colts
69 Vikings
78 Cowboys
01 Rams
07 Patriots

What about teams who didn't make the Super Bowl like the 98 Vikings and 06 Chargers?

The best super bowl losers I've seen are

1) 07 Pats
2) 14 Seahawks
3) 01 Rams
4) 04 Eagles
5) 05 Seahawks

I'm really in no position to judge super bowl teams before the year 2000.
