Mr. Rogers was so criminally underrated.

I couldn't agree with you more. I have always felt that way about these men. Hard to find any Americans more deserving of praise besides the forefathers of the nation.

I'd like to add the Wright Brothers to the list. American to the core.

Franklin
Jackson
Vanderbilt
Lincoln
Rockefeller
Morgan
Carnegie
Ford
Kennedy
Gates
There is a handful of Presidents and titans of industry that literally molded this country (and the global economy) into what we know today. Their accomplishments were not representative of a single action and they are tGOAT.

Yeah, everybody already forgets those guys. History remembers the guys who put their asses on the line, not the guys who do math.

I have a personal bias in this, but it really is a shame. They were just as important for the missions as the astronauts themselves.

frick those nerds. Who's more badass, the guys that decided to put some highly flammable gases in a metal coke bottle and light the fuse or the crazy motherfrickers that volunteered to ride that motherfricker into space?

There's a difference between badassery and contribution to the mission. Without someone punching (and writing) cards for the enormous fricking room-computers, no one would have been launched.
