Most of the game, he had it, then he passed it back out. The fans were BEGGING for him to take it to the hole, but he wouldn't. Granted there could have been more plays designed specifically for him, but he had the post anytime he wanted it.

Not sure what his deal was. It was proven that 1 on 1 in the post, they couldn't guard him, but he just kept passing it back to the perimeter.

When the defense collapses on him he makes the smart basketball move and gives it up. However the smart basketball move is not the RIGHT basketball move for this LSU basketball team. This team needs him to be selfish.

He seems scared to shoot sometimes.

He definitely needs to be more aggressive, especially when they were missing shots down the stretch , go to the basket and hurt them at the foul line.

Watching game day earlier they were all saying he's not aggressive enough and during the game DV kept saying it but mussberger brought up a good point when he asked why is JJ not coaching him to be more aggressive....

One of them even made the comment that they will draw up plays for him in the NBA ...

Had Ben been aggressive, LSU would have crushed OU with the way TQ and Victor we're playing yesterday.

Simmons fears the pressure of failure.

And when he does that the team should be told to pass it right back.

I've been sayin' for weeks - if BS would develop a 12-18 ft. jump shot, he'd be undefendable at this level. Yesterday, he took and made one 12 footer (maybe 4-5 minutes into to the game) but never took a similar shot the rest of the game. The curious thing is: his form on that jumper was great, looked very natural. As it is, when he has the ball facing the basket 18-20 feet out, the defender is giving him 2-3 feet which makes a drive to the basket more difficult. Taking and making some mid-range jumpers would change that quite drastically.

To be fair our first half 3pt shooting may have convinced him early on that passing was a better move. We had the lead early not from outplaying OU but from being ridiculous from 3pt range.

Simmons is as true freshman. He is an unbelievable talent but sometimes his lack of experience shows (granted, in a very few things). I'd say this is one of those times. Those of you old enough, recall the 1990 season when LSU was pre-season no. 1 but their dominant players were a true soph (Jackson), another true soph that sat his entire Fr season b/c of grades (Roberts) and another really talented and huge true Fr (Shaq). That team was frustratingly inconsistent beating the eventual national champs UNLV but losing to average SEC teams and getting beat by Ga. Tech in the tournament because they couldn't defend the outside shot.

The OU team we played yesterday was the opposite. They were a poised, SR- laden team with the POY shooting 7 of 9 for 3 down the stretch and a very good, experienced coach.

Even though we lost to OU, the team showed improvement and the FR (Simmons and Blakeney) see where they need to grow.

This team needs to take care of business in its conference games. There's not a lot of margin left for error but if they focus on what they need to be doing game-to-game they'll be ok. They might even win the conference.
