At my last job I got a talking to from one of the owners for always leaving at five. No actual complaints about quality of work or effort, just that it doesn't look like you want to be there if you are out the door right at five.

What if you had other obligations to tend to right after work(ex: you have to pick up your child from daycare or pick up a SO from their job, etc).

I've always hated that shite, especially when it ignores, as many have said, coming in early, or also taking a short or no lunch, or doing work from home later in the evenings, both of which I do consistently and would rather do and be able to get home at a decent time than sitting there for another 30-60 minutes.

I fricking hate clock watchers.
