My son, 9, and i were watching some U17 World Cup matches that we recorded and he asked how he could make the US team...told him I had no idea, but be the best kid on every team you play on and you may have a shot.
So I guess I sign him up for tryouts to all the select teams in the area, but I think the academy he's with now pays their coaches the most. Who knows?
I have him kicking footballs as well. He makes 15yd field goals (25yd and over the soccer goal...which I realize is a couple feet shorter) consistently, but he still hasn't figured out how to really get pop on it.
Really it's just father-son time...but back to the OP, I married an athletic woman on purpose.
