He can blanket the best player on defense and when he struggles it seems the whole team struggles. When he's on, he's the difference in this team.

I agree, but I also think Ben needs to be as aggressive as he was in the Bama game. When he attacks, we are a whole different animal.

Check our record when Ben scores over 23 points and when he scores below 23 points and tell me who the key is again. If Ben is aggressive we win period

Feel like he will settle down and be that leader we need in the backcourt after the Bama game. But Gray is a key player. Needs to be a spark and facilitate when its his time.

He most certainly is... When Quarterman is on, we are a top 5 team... But when he's off and other players have to step up, that's when we slip.

I sure hope you are wrong but I am afraid you may be correct.

We need other players to improve quickly if we are going to run deep into the playoffs.

As it is if we make it, I see us winning at the most two games- and that depends on who our first opponent would be.

We are still not a consistent team and could easily drop some games that would keep us out of the show

The key is for everyone to play defense, especially backside help and stopping dribble penetration. On offense, the key is to run it through Ben. That will allow the best player to have many touches. With his court vision and passing skills, it will also give the other players better looks at the basket.

Quarterman is definitely the most important player, assuming Simmons is doing his thing.

Teams are going to focus on Simmons. We need a player capable of dominating a defense that is not keying on him. Quarterman did that to Kentucky, and in theory can do that against anyone. He's a tough matchup, he's not like Gray (for example), where you could just commit a fast guard to stay with him.
Very few teams have a 6'6" wing that can run point, post up and rebound if needed, etc, and defend against that, that would NOT be part of the plan to manage Simmons.

We need him to lock up Buddy Hield Saturday. That dude is unreal.

He averages 25.7 ppg.

Quarterman reminds me of a right handed Jalen Rose lacking consistency.

Noticed the same thing. When he has a big game, we win.

True Dat! He basically took over down the stretch (last 2 min.) and was in the right place at the right time. Here are some more "keys" down the stretch: EVERYONE has to play at their highest level!

The Tigers are very well designed to compete against any type of opponent. Gray can be effective, Malone can be useful, and Bridgewater/Epps, etc. can ALL be dominant for a few minute stretches of any 40 min. game.
That's encouraging when you get to the tournament b/c of matchups.

Bottom line is no team/player can defend Simmons one-on-one when the game is on the line. In conclusion yes Quarterman is our 2nd best player when he is on but everyone on the roster needs tobe ready to contribute and stay focused. That's all from Coach "Daddy" Dale Brown.

There was an earlier Thread about Quarterman compared to B.Harris in the the thought that when both are On, they're really good and there full potential is reached. But when they're are OFF, they look very bad...

I do think most of the better performances we've had are when he shows up big. Getting him to show up consistently has seemingly been a chore though.

Just from watching body language and things such as that, looks like maybe there could be some Alpha stuff going on between he and Simmons? Maybe not, but kinda reads that way sometimes watching the games.

Listen I love Tim even back when everyone hated him as a freshmen. When he is on, Tim is explosive and fun to watch on the offensive end. However, he leaves a lot to be desired on the defensive end. His off ball defense is really bad mostly because he likes to ball watch in an attempt for steals. On ball he gives up more dribble penetration than anyone of our guards. A lot of that has to do with matchups, he usually faces smaller and quicker guys than him.

Listen, I love Tim but he is by no means a blanket on the defensive end. He is high risk high reward player on both sides of the ball and when he is on it is fun to watch but when he is off... man its tough.
