John Brady did more for LSU basketball than anyone else has come close to since Brown in the early 90s. He inherited a probation team and brought life to a program that was dead. He recruited fun players to watch and for a stretch from 99-06 made it an awesome ride. For that I like him.

He was an a-hole and treated people badly. But so is Saban and people miss that aspect in a football coach. Even with all the transfers, he made his team win and actually coached them during the game. We played defense back then!!!

People give him shite but I don't see many coaches doing what he did for us. Josh Maravich was a piece of shite and didn't deserve to be on the team.

He's got a Sweet 16 (should have been better had we not played Wisconsin and scored 40 or so points) and a Final Four under his belt. Way more than Johnny Jones will ever accomplish here with better players.

I'll just drop this nugget in here because Sandtrap is a moron.

Johnny Jones has won 63.4% of his games at LSU. That means he has the best winning percentage of any LSU basketball coach, not counting one intern coach who only coached 6 games in 1945, since Tad Gormley was coaching LSU Basketball in 19fricking23. Anybody who thinks Johnny needs to be fired can GFY.

Why don't you just spit out some more inaccurate facts...you are really good at that.

After this year, LSU basketball will sink back to a middle-of-the-road SEC team again. Our recruiting class isn't even ranked in the top 50 for next year.

I would like us to be consistently good I basketball, but I just don't see it happening with the pieces in place.

His stats are accurate.

We are getting program guys in the 2017 class. We won't be as bad as people think next year. Then the 2018 class will be epic...or should be.

You don't have a crystal ball, you have literally no idea what will happen. Not to mention, LSU basketball was dead and wandering around the wasteland of college basketball until CJJ came.

His stats about recruiting rankings were not accurate.

I agree that a change was needed...badly. And, you are right I have no idea what will happen in the next few years, but based on what I have seen out of Johnny Jones, I'm not going to be overly optimistic. Trust me...I would love to be dead wrong.

I didn't see anything about recruiting stats, so I was commenting about coaching record.

He has improved each year so far, and we started out rough but we didn't have 2 of our best players. 99% of teams would have struggled without their 2nd and 3rd leading scorer for half the season.

This season may end up sucking, but there is still A LOT of ball left to be played, so people don't need to fully jump off the ship, yet

me too, red stick tigress...wasn't that fond of brady before but to not let the son of the greatest college player in history even step on the floor for one second in his final time wearing LSU colors proved to me that brady was the biggest a-hole in college coaching history !!!!!

It was like his first time in a month he had put those LSU colors on. Dude should have gone to practice and not quit.

Yep. If he was the coach of this year's team, we'd be so much better.

Brady's teams played defense but they were horrible on offense. They would go 6-7 minutes without making a shot, some horrible shooting teams.

It was an important game for an LSU team that would soon be playing in the NCAAT. The game remained fairly close throughout. This isn't 5th grade basketball. The ONLY reason Maravich was on the team in the first place was because of his father. He should have been thankful enough just for the opportunity to be on the team.

There was a lot dislike about Brady (fair or unfair), but I couldn't care any less that he didn't let Maravich play in a relevant game.

Oh, I remember.

But they played with intensity and effort, something our current teams lack a lot of.

He would have run off half the team by now. And just because the games were always low scoring, it doesn't mean the defenses were always great.

This guy is trying to say that by me saying A&M's recruiting class was better than our's this past season that I am wrong. Their class was definitely better than our's.

Then in this thread is claiming that Johnny has not been consistently good. And that Brady was?! WTF! Let's look at some facts for Sandvag.

Johnny Jones
2012–13 LSU 19–12 9–9
2013–14 LSU 20–14 9–9
2014–15 LSU 22–11 11–7
2015–16 LSU 11-6 4-1
John Brady
1997–98 LSU 9–18 2–14
1998–99 LSU 12–15 4–12
1999–00 LSU 28–6 12–4
2000–01 LSU 13–16 2–14
2001–02 LSU 19–15 6–10
2002–03 LSU 21–11 8–8
2003–04 LSU 18–11 8–8
2004–05 LSU 20–10 12–4
2005–06 LSU 27–9 14–2
2006–07 LSU 17–15 5–11
2007–08 LSU 8–13 1–6

I'm no genius (actually I am but that's besides the point) but one looks a hell of a lot more consistent and trending up than me. But hell let's fire the winningest coach we have had in 95 years.

Butt, this brings up a question I have for you. Have we hit an all time low with Mr. Sandtrap? I mean we have an LSU fan that is white knighting John Brady. For god's sake, John Brady!

I went to his camps as a kid before he was at LSU and will always have respect for him. Jones can recruit but is not consistent week to week.
