That kind of leads to my next question...
Once I've decided on a blade, Do you guys recommend a certain site? Is it safe to purchase on Amazon, because reading some of the reviews has me concerned that they've had issues with knockoffs in the past? the manufacturer sites are all original pricing, and Amazon as well as other knife-centric sites are greatly discounted.

Buy at Amazon, just make sure you're buying FROM Amazon. If you have Prime, use either "sold by Amazon" or sold by a prime entity. I think the huge majority of knock off claims and issues relating to products/returns for Amazon are people who are buying on the site but are buying from some storefront run through Amazon. That skews the reviews.
FWIW, I've bought several new knives from storefronts on Ebay and gotten some very good deals. Usually I'm buying rare enough knives (not rare, rare, just not mini grips and the like) that I don't worry about fakes. Regardless, just check the seller ratings, there are plenty of good knife sellers on Ebay.
