i agree if we are a top 10 job like i hear from the talking heads, why are we going through this?

Dietzel left in 61
Arnsparger was just "going to talk" to Miami left late 80's
Notre Dame wanted to talk to DiNardo (should have let them)
Lord Saban...well we know
Miles.... TBA

An elite team should not go through this. We look like a stepping stone job.

LSU needs either a "Louisiana" guy (e.g., Del Rio?) or a guy whose alma mater or roots would not be as big of a draw as far as coaching destinations go (e.g., Kelly, Central Michigan?).

What is wrong with being a stepping stone job?

Miami was a stepping stone job during the past 20 years.

Howard Schnellenberger who won the first N.C. for Miami lasted 5 years.
Jimmy Johnson won a N.C. and lasted 5 years.
Dennis Erickson won a couple of N.C. and lasted 6 years.
Butch Davis didn’t win a N.C. and lasted 6 years.
Larry Coker won a N.C. and lasted 6 years.

Being called a stepping stone job is meaningless.

Being called a winning program is what is important.
