Name any LSU football coach who was fired for going 9-3 or 8-4. Or even had a majority of the fan base wanting him fired. Name one.

significant portions of our fanbase that TODAY have problems with a coach that has gone 32-5

What in the hell does "significant portions" mean? Ten people posting on a message board? What does "have problems" mean? Disagree with even one decision he's ever made? Be disappointed with even one of his losses? This statement is completely meaningless unless the terms are defined and the data are there to support the allegations. Neither is the case here.

This is a classic example of just pulling something completely out of the air and alleging it as fact without any support or justification whatsoever. You should be a journalist. A sportswriter.

You guys seem to have a pretty good coach now. Aren't you NO. 1? I'm being sarcastic.

Speaking from experience, no fans seem to appreciate the great coach when they have them.
In Huskerland, we are missing the good old days.
And I'm not even talking the 5 National Championships, I'm talking a 9-3 season!

Good Luck! Hope you are National Champs!
If not you, then Kansas.

As far as this Kansas fan goes, number one he is a kansas fan. He doesn't know what is it like to compete for national championships in college football, the hardest accomplishment in all of sports. Usually one loss and your done. Every top tier school has a very small portion of fans who every-time their team loses, says fire the coach. Luckily we have AD's and board of directors that make those decisions. LSU has never ever fired a coach out of the blue or after losing one game. Dinardo, Curly, Archer were terrible coaches given lots of time to turn things around. If anything LSU kept bad coaches too long. Cause one we got Saban, our first top tier coach in a long time look what happened to our program. It exploded to one of the biggest if not the biggest in the nation. So Kansas fan, congrats on your season, if you played a sec schedule, you would have a losing record, but luckily you don't. If by chance you make it to the championship honestly, what do you think LSU if we make it will do to your team. The line will probably be over two touchdowns. Stick with basketball, what you know, enjoy you football successes when they come. But before you go to an elite teams message board and say things like who would coach at LSU because we fire coaches when they lose a game, is ridicules. Who would coach at LSU, everyone in college football and NFL would be a candidate. It is one of the top 5 coaching jobs in all of football. The question is who is LSU going to hire. Hopefully since Michigan finally fired Car for not beating Ohio St., les will probably go, but hopefully we can get saban back. Someone who knows the program and could hit the ground running. You can look at him and tell he isn't happy. When we went to bama, you should have seen him, looking across the field and a team he considers his, knowing more than anything he wished he was wearing purple and gold, not red. Hoping to be a tiger, not an elephant or a herd of red elephants????? Please hire Saban if les goes LSU, don't screw up. This makes me so nervous. Damn the wolverines.

Of course not fired, but come on, if Miles stays for 2008 and goes 8-4, they'll have to triple security around the football operations center and escort Miles home.

Heck, I was bored and trying to trigger a discussion. My overall point is that LSU fans, in a very misplaced way, invested a lot into the previous coach. It reminded me of the whole Dietzel/Mac paradigm. Dietzel NEVER bled Purple and Gold (and if so, it was WAY after it mattered), Mac did. I am starting to feel that way about WVMD/Miles. Clearly WVMD realized his mistake, once it's too late. Will Miles? There is at least a good chance he might.

My original thread was to point out the challenges the program faces when trying to bring in a new guy when 32-5 is not enough to satisfy what I perceive as a significant minority, if not a majority of hardcore LSU fans. I'm not just talking about Rantards, it's palpable among LSU fans in general. Yes, there are large numbers of Miles supporters, but there is yet to coalesce a solid, relative consensus support of Miles. Maybe a SEC Championship will do it. Maybe he will have to win the BCSCG to trigger this defining moment. Maybe he will have to leave to cause this.

Who knows?

Fans today don't know how to be happy. They must punish themselves and toil in futility, further legitimizing their losing attitude. If the team and the coach win (no matter how or by how much), the sad sack fan must be unhappy. It's almost like people are afraid of success, so therefore they embrace defeat. I see this attitude especially in Louisiana people, and people from more depressed areas.
