How many people here hate sex scenes in TV shows?

I've been watching The Americans. A lot of the show is just people talking in somewhat hushed voices, so I have to turn the volume up a good bit to hear.
Then they cut to the next scene which is some woman getting plowed and moaning her head off.
Sounds like I'm watching porn or something.

I wish there were more of them.

I hate gay men sex scenes, wish there were more of lesbian sex scenes.

I bet you only read playboy "for the articles"

This makes many of the so called best shows unwatchable to me. The Americans is just 1 example of a show I stopped watching because of this. I understand why otherwise poor shows put it in, for ratings, but if your show is good you don't need it.

So if the sex noises were lower in volume, you would be okay with it?

It's almost always gratuitous. It's sad that shows have to include them to pander to the low-IQ general population

Oftentimes they add nothing to a show.

I mean if they're scenes like the few from season 1 of True Detective where sex and objectification of women is a major theme of the show and the scenes themselves advance the plot in a meaningful way, then I'm good with it.
The gratuitous scenes in shows where sex isn't an obvious theme or factor in the show just suck. If I want to watch idealized sex with all the fixings, I'll open my computer.

Are we talking softcore porn-esque sex scenes or nudity in general?
Softcore porn-esque sex scenes can get annoying when it's out of place with either the plot or cinematography. In something like the Spartacus series, sex scenes fit the scope.
As for nudity, there is never a wrong time.

Most of the time I feel they are in the show for shock value and adds nothing to the story. It seems they are trying to get away with more and more. HBO is turning into porn.

well it's kind of a central conflict in the Americans so it's somewhat necessary
the whole layer surrounding their relationship requires that kind of conflict, b/c the whole larger issue of "do we like each other, let alone love each other" running central to the show is in direct conflict with how little they value sex (which is often an emotional expression of love in a relationship)
*vague spoiler alert*
that's why when they have "make up sex" at one point (can't even remember the marital conflict) they 69 each other (it's a sign of true intimacy b/c sex has been so degraded due to their jobs that intercourse is emotionally grey).

Banshee is one of the worst shows about this, as least in the first season. It seems like every episode has about 10 minutes of gratuitous sex, fortunately there are some total babes on that show.

99% of the sex scenes on a HBO series is unnecessary... Not the nudity but actual sex... I have no interest watching Marciano finish off in Julie...

I hate them. They aren't necessary, and can be awkward. Unless its a very particular movie, or a porn film, I would prefer that it not be apart of the movie. We all can understand when they want to infer the sex, instead of actually showing it.

I've noticed in just about all the HBO or Showtime series I watch (or have watched), the first season (or early seasons) have the most sex scenes. Homeland is one of my favorite series, but there is really no need for sex scenes. Porn is for watching sex scenes, I don't like to be all wrapped up in waiting for some shite to blow up then all of a sudden two people are going at it...

Sounds like your problem isn't a sex scene problem, it's a varying volume throughout the show problem.
But to answer your question, it depends on the context. If it's pertinent to the story then it works.

Hate it when it has nothing to do with story.

Just went and watched one of those sex scenes, damn that guy in the glasses tore Keri Russel up from behind. Straight long d*** style.

I love seeing tits, as long as I'm not watching with my mom. I'm 35 and it's still uncomfortable.
