Two of La Tech's stars are LSU "could've been" players. Paul Turner, a wide receiver who received very little playing time at LSU, transferred to Tech. Trent Taylor was an outstanding receiver at Evangel in Shreveport. Problem is he is only 5'8" (like Tyrann Mathieu). The announcers at the New Orleans Bowl last night were comparing him to Wes Welker. He is quick as a cat, has great hands and is very difficult to cover.

Does LSU ignore short receivers in their recruiting efforts? Some of these guys turn out to be exceptional players. Turner is also relatively short at 5'11". Note that Trey Quinn is also a Wes Welker type player and only 6'0". LSU has used him very little and yet he holds the national high school record for receiving yards in a career at 6,566 yards. Is LSU getting the most from its receiving talent?

So you're asking does LSU ignore short receivers and one of your examples is a guy LSU signed?

You dont watch the nfl do you? I hear there are a couple WR's who play for the Giants and Dolphins who went to school at LSU that are making a name for themselves, both under 6 feet tall.

Paul Turner is rated 98th in the WR class this year. On a pass heavy offense. I don't think he was or is LSU caliber.

1: LSU signed one of the guys you use as an example.
2: OBJ and Landry are not "tall" WRs. Numbers get stretched a bit for football, so my guess is they are both about 5'10-5'11.
3: LSU can choose guys who are 5'10-6'5 who are fast and elusive. So why bother recruiting fast, elusive guys who are only 5'8?

This thread is bad, did you just become a fan last season? OBJr and Landry ring a bell?

And Paul Turner has done nothing at Louisiana Tech to make me believe he'd be any higher than 3rd string here for his senior season.

Yea, I think it's funny that Trey drops 2 passes, and his head is on the chopping block. Diarse this season had by far more drops than Trey, but he stays on the field....
