His lower-body mechanics on his J are not good right now but that'll improve at the next level with some tender lovin from a mark price or chip engelland type

Yea, he'll develop it just fine.
He's a 6'10 player with a great handle and elite passing. He's very polished for his age outside of that 1 area
He's going #1 unless he's injured, but that fool wouldn't take him in the first round
The greatest player ever, MJ, was a vertical player when he came into the league and he was a 2. He attacked the rim and developed into one of the best jump shooters in the NBA over time.
He developed the medium game and then developed the 3.

Dude you're not taking the ball out of the hands of a NBA level point guard and let a rookie PF without a jumper take over.

Simmons with 11 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists.
Very disappointing in the lack of points production. I really thought he would be a 20 pt per game player.
11 points against Gardner Webb
WOW! Just WOW!

So you wouldn't pick Shaq in the first round?
It's crazy how everyone knowledgeable in the basketball world thinks Simmons is can't miss but more than a couple people on this board doubt him. Says a lot about the nature of LSU fans.
Ignorance is bliss, Part II.

No he doesn't and its because he hasn't had the need to develop one
He has always been a miss match, especially in HS, he could go around bigger players and he can physically beat smaller players, so he has never needed to "settle" for jump shots
He won't be able to do that in the NBA
But his form isn't terrible, so it should come with time and practice

He's shot very few of them and has made less. He's 1-2 from 3pt, so he knows his limitations. I wouldn't mind him shooting a few jump shots to force teams to not sag the lane as much as they do.

My first round pick would never be someone without a jumpshot.
With the 1st pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, the New Orleans Hornets and GM Omegaman66 select... "Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Small forward, Kentucky."

Do you still think he won't go #1 in the draft?
If not 1 then number 2. It depends who gets the number one pick. The NBA draft is all about potential and Ben Simmons only flaw is his shooting and that can be taught with repetition. He will be a good shooter eventually but probably a few years into his NBA career.

I'm sure our crack coaching staff can help him develop any portions of his game that are lacking.
I don't think player development has really been our issue. It's defensive scheme and in game coaching
shite, look at what Quarterman has become since his freshman year. Stringer too.
Martin turned into a dominant force for us too. Became extremely efficient

I've always said this but the rant narrative is he is the worst coach ever which in actuality he is pretty good at developing individual players he struggles at developing a team that can work together and win games consistently. His in game decisions can be baffling too.

For being the best player in college basketball so said, you would think he would have a pretty good jumpshot.
Posted on 12/17/15 at 9:56 am to Rico Tubbs
You're literally the only person who thinks he's not overwhelmingly #1. It's the consensus...by a wide margin. Not to mention, his shot will get a lot better. He was around a 55% ft shooter in HS and he's around 70-75% right now. He's 19, has a lottttttt of time to improve his shot.

Why? Okafor was the best player in college last year and like my make a shot outside the lane.
People who don't know basketball are the only ones who think if you don't have a jumpshot, you can't be successful. He doesn't have an outside shot and he's still the best around.

"Best around" and "dont have a jumpshot" is an oxymoron.
