The adult siblings decided not to exchange gifts this year for the first time. Giving my parents gifts, and gifts to the kids. Makes things a lot easier, but also a little sad, TBH. It remains to be seen if anybody breaks down and gives gifts anyway, making everybody else look like shite. We may all end up doing it

We did an ugly Christmas sock thing. Any adult in the family that wanted to participate was to buy an ugly pair of socks and stuff them with whatever. Then everyone pulled numbers and picked socks.

Turned out to be pretty fun.

My parents tried to implement that a few years back. They wanted us all to give that money to charity instead. I told them I get nothing out of giving to charity but do enjoy giving people I actually know gifts, so I will be giving them gifts regardless of what they do. They reciprocated but told me not to tell my brothers. The charity thing was one and done. Back to giving gifts to each other like a normal family.
