Eli deserves to get in. 60,000 yards and 2 Super Bowls. And those 2 wins were/are the thorn in the side of the GOAT (arguable) Brady.

Deserves?

This is my problem with Eli - if you're going to put him in, it should open the door for a plethora of good QBs from his era.

For instance, if Eli is in, Rivers is in, right?

You may cite Rivers lack of playoff success, but I'd take Rivers over Eli in basically every season they've played, so I have a hard time putting Eli in without putting Rivers in.

If they all end up in the Top 5 in passing yard, top 6-7 in career TDs, and win 2 Super Bowls they would deserve to be in also.

Ben Roethlisberger is getting in and his stats aren't as good as Eli's.

Isn't Troy Aikman in the HOF? He was carried by Emmitt and Irving. Who was Eli handing the ball off too? Eli now has Beckham, but before that his receivers weren't all-pros (maybe Plaxico was with him one of those Super Bowls).

Rivers has zero playoff success. Eli got Coughlin and Gilbride a super bowl ring.

Super Bowls matter. New York Super Bowls count! Not saying the New York angle is right, but it exists. And the Manning legacy storyline is just too storybook for the NFL to pass up. Tear filled pics of Archie and Mrs. Archie while each gives speach. Shot of each brother full of pride at the others speech.

You can punch holes in those reasons, but not his numbers and his rings. He will have both when he retires. And if he can scrape up another deep playoff run before he retires? It is only gravy. Like Peyton. They shite the bed in their Super Bowl but he drug Denver back for 3 seasons or so of greatness. Those numbers are just gravy.
