I've come to add some scientific clarification. 1 pound of dry beans will yield 6 cups of cooked beans. So 15 pounds of dry beans will yield 90 cups of cooked beans or 5.675 gallons.
So, a 5 gallon pot will not hold 15 pounds of dry beans when cooked but it would technically hold 13 pounds without any meat

quote:I disagree. I cooked 1 pound of dry beans with 3/4 pound of sliced sausage. When cooked, it measured almost exactly 8 cups with a medium consistency.

I guess I may have to do a Red Beans and Rice calculator after all.
