I have a Tikka .308. It's the most accurate rifle I have bought from a store. Killed an elk with it last month. It's way more than enough for whitetail

The second most accurate round I have shot is the 7-08. I had a browning lever action that was really accurate. I sold that gun and really regret it. I killed 8 deer with that gun and fired 8 bullets. If you are shooting nothing bigger than whitetail, then it is a great choice.

I like .270, but less than the first two.
I've never liked 30-06, but I have only fired a few times.

If you plan to hunt bear, elk or moose with this rifle then you should consider 7 mag and 300 win mag. .270 wsm is also a great choice. It has nearly the same ballistics as 7 mag but a shorter burn time, ergo less recoil.
All three of these kick though.

But, back to your point: 7-08 is an accurate and deadly round that is easier to shoot.
I'd go .308 first though.
