Robert Flores on First Take

quote:
"I’m wondering why there’s no Letters to the Editor or why First Take’s not doing ‘Should Travis Kelce be dancing in the endzone?’… I wonder why they’re not doing that. Oh, because he’s not black. That’s probably what it is.”
First Take has been accused of race-baiting on numerous occasions before, but Flores is 1000000% correct – the glaring double standard here is a message that needs to go to all of the sports media.

Wonder how long ESPN suspends him...

If he cant see a difference between Cam Newton and Travis Kelce besides their races, then hes a racist.
Let's see what happens when Johnny Manziel does this

So he must be black right? According to Flores

I think main reason people don't like Cam's dancing is he's a qb not a TE, Rb, or WR. If Brady, Peyton, or Brees did all that dancing after a td or every first down they'd be killed too.

Black players dance every quarter of every game without backlash. Hell it was a black player who got in Cam's face. People really show how stupid they are when talking about this topic.

Cam and Kaepernick are the only 2 QBs who lack enough self awareness to act like that. But at least Cam is actually good at QB.

I'm not sure what stance he is taking. Is he making fun of First Take and saying they make everything racial or is he essentially agreeing with them?
He wouldn't be suspended if he's agreeing with them.
Sidenote: Kelce has decent moves for a white guy.

they took away Graham's goal post dunk and that was not hurting anyone

This entire narrative is ridiculous.
People give a shite about Cam Newton, Chad Johnson, etc.... because they are polarizing.
If Pierre Thomas did a dance in the endzone a few time, no one would care.
Get Manziel or Tebow doing that shite and it will be front page news. Because they are polarizing.
Has zero to do with race.
That culture from top to bottom, from rich to poor are some of the biggest insecure whiners and excuse makers on the planet.

Race aside, here's why this won't and isn't getting as much attention:
A) Cam has been a well-known, polarizing figure since his year at Auburn. So going almost 6 years of being in American sports living rooms. Travis Kelce was relatively unknown, and still might be to the average fan, until at the very earliest the end of last year.
B) Cam Newton is the QB/Leader/Face of an 11-0 first place NFC team. A team that's getting not only a lot of pub for their play, but because of their young core of very talented, fun to watch players. Kelce is a young, yet talented TE on a middling AFC team, in a small market, fighting for a wild card spot in a sea of 6-5/5-6 teams. Not only does Kelce play one of the least integral/aesthetically pleasing postions, his counterpart is arguably the most important position on a team and the most fun to watch. More eyes are on him, and he's expected to act as such.
C) Cam continued to do his celebration in the face of his opponents after being confronted. Kelce was doing a dance to the fans surrounded by teammates.
Now, don't get me wrong I have no problem with either celebration. I think the big hoopla over Cam was stupid. It's professional sports. You're getting paid just like Cam is. If you don't want him to celebrate an achievement, stop him. It's as simple as that.
While I agree FT is absolutely retarded, and embodies everything that's wrong with American sports fans, I don't think this was only about race. As another poster said, if Johnny had done this, or what Cam did, he'd be getting the same treatment Cam is/was getting.
He's white, so why? Because he's a QB, who's been a popular, polarizing athlete since his days in college. He/they're 'expected' to hold themselves to a higher standard than the rest of his team because of his position and face-value they are to their organizations.

Has nothing to do with race. Show me a white QB that shows off like that and I guarantee he will get roasted by folks for it.
Black WRs and RBs show off all the time and nobody says shite. Why? We expect WRs and RBs, especially WRs, to be attention whore divas. Hell Odell Beckham acts like a grade A idiot every time he scores but there is no outrage. Why? Is Odell not black?
Nope - its because we expect our QBs to be professionals. Maybe that expectation isnt right - but its reality. If he (Cam) would just spike the ball while yelling at the crowd and then went back to the sideline nobody would say a word.

Don't see Rodgers getting roasted, and what Palmer did last week is way worse than Cam dancing in the end zone. Don't like it stop him.
