From what I read in the stickied USA Today article, the buyout decreases throughout the year as Les recieves paychecks, so its not actually 3m extra to do it now vs January. It's also reduced by any other job he gets and he has to make a good faith effort to find work.
Basically 15m =/= 15m. LSU could end up paying a fraction of that amount.
