To actually fire him 1/1/16 would not be feasible. But when George Bass starts the bidding at "pay Miles $15 million," the first counter by LSU would be "fine, we'll let you twist in the wind for three weeks while the media crushes your legacy." He'd actually be gone immediately, but termination dated later.

Could work or not, but it's a strong ploy, and could hold up if challeged (it's essentially the basis of the Chavis suit). It's all just a negotiation at this point.

When George Bass walks into court with a contract signed by the next head coach dated Dec 1, 2015 and a contract with Miles termination dated January 1, 2016, Bass is gonna drop his nuts on the desk for LSU's attorney and smile.

And you think LSU is going to wait until January 1st to put pen to paper on a new coach's contract? You're dumber than I thought.
