Here's one I stole from another website. Very traditional and very good. "It's how they're supposed to be made".
Grandmas sweet tater pie
This recipe is a hard one to beat, makes my mouth water just thinking about it.
2 cups sweet potatoes, mashed
3 cups sugar
1 1/2 stick butter .
1 1/2 teaspoon lemon extract (optional)
3 eggs, slightly beaten
1 1/8 cup evaporated milk
3 tablespoons flour
1 1/2 teaspoon real vanilla extract (not imitation)
May add 1/2 t cinnamon at your discretion
Mix all ingredients and pour into two 9” deep dish pie crusts. Cook in oven at 350 degrees for 50 minutes.
Cook time may vary from one oven to the next
