My family has always left their shoes at the door. Right after you walk inside there's a spot to put them. But my girlfriend says it looks bad, and her family puts their shoes in a closet in their room then wears slippers or flip flops at all times in the house.

What was it like having to always sit on that plastic couch cover too?

I have tile flooring and don't make a big deal of whether or not people wear their shoes in my house, most are sensible enough to take them off if they are dirty.

But yes, I do wear shoes in this house because I am not walking around in socks when I am at home

In general, yes. Once we get up, get dressed, and get to doing what ever we are doing that day we keep our shoes on.

At the end of the day, when we are settling down for the night we usually just wear socks or go barefoot.

My house has wood floors and tile, no carpet. Shoes help cushion your feet on the tile, and if I'm going in and out a lot I'm not going to stop and take shoes on and off every time.

From a floor integrity perspective, I read on here a week or so ago that wearing shoes is better for floors because it keeps the oils from feet from getting on the floors.

That being said, I wear LL Bean house slippers most of the time.

Shoes stay in the garage on a shoe rack or go inside in a closet. I have house slippers for the winter and flip flops for the summer.

I take my shoes/boots off when I walk in the door but mostly because I'm tired of wearing them. I take them off at my desk too

I have tile floors throughout my house and the soil here is very sandy. Shoes at the doors, slippers in the house. I don't like walking on sand covered tiles.

Barefoot or socks. Boyd's friends leave shoes at the doors. Anyone come over to visit or to eat keeps shoes on.
