This is awesome. Masculinity should not be praised, it is a bad thing as it teaches men to oppress women.

This is a huge step. Boys should be allowed to play with barbies and other girls toys if they want to. If they don't want to, make them and tell them to check their male privilege and that gender is nothing but a social construct.

quote:

The new Moschino Barbie is a huge hit (currently sold-out!), and its commercial is breaking boundaries by featuring a young boy in it.

"Moschino Barbie is so fierce!" the boy screams as he and two female friends laud the doll, done up in designer Jeremy Scott's sleek glamour. Barbie's cellphone goes off and the male child says, "It's for you, Moschino Barbie," before winking at the camera. Watch the ad below.

The strict gender lines of toys and children's accessories have slowly been breaking down, with Target moving to make its signage more gender-neutral.

there's absolutely no way that's real. Even the jingle sounds like it's meant to push buttons.

You do realize that this:

quote:

Boys should be allowed to play with barbies and other girls toys if they want to

does not make this:

quote:

Masculinity should not be praised, it is a bad thing as it teaches men to oppress women.

true. Right?

This isn't the boy's fault, it's the parents' fault. They raised their child to grow up like this, even if they say they didn't

They talk about goddamn gender norms being social constructions and want to eliminate such bigotry, and then in their "progress" they dress a boy up in flamboyant glitter and give him a perm with highlights. And then he does the head tilt and says "so fierce" like a preteen valley girl would at a sleepover.

Why does he have to look like that? Why can't he have a crew cut and dirty tennis shoes and want to play with barbie dolls?
