What is your definition of "compete for championships"

Since that's CLM self stated goal. everyone competes in Sept! What should that mean ?

Never being eliminated from contention in the west before the last regular season game, staying in or near the top 10.

In order and based on how deep into the season you are...these would qualify as competing for a championship.

1. Play well enough in the early playoff discussion
2. Win division
3. Play for/Win conference championship
4. Make CFB playoff.

Once you've answered the original question, now ask yourself, "How many coaches in SEC history have met the criteria you have set?
