If you're even a semi-active trader, I would caution you to read the various online reviews and rankings before placing money in a Merrill Edge account. Depending on the size of your account or status at BofA, you can trade for (basically) free. I have high blood pressure. And based on their tendency to have account "issues", I was concerned that they might kill me within the first six months. I took a pass. But YMMV.

It' annoying to deal with everything over the phone. They call you once every 6 months to review your account. They'll call at random times and expect you to take 45 minutes to an hour out of your day to discuss your entire financial situation. I need to either get with an actual advisor (now that I live in a town where there are actually Merrill Lynch offices).
