alabama builds their team to beat us

we treat them like any other team.
even though the seasons we have a competitive team there is one school in the west generally who will stop us from winning the west.
how come saban is that much smarter?

First of all, do you really have to ask that? On the other hand, do you think it might have bitten him in the butt in the last two bowl games (and maybe the last two Ole Miss games)?

you can't win it all every year.
he's still winning more than his share.

I totally agree. Every other team even if they don't match up as well, they can just dominate on pure talent.
We are the only other consistent team

NO, they just build the best team they can.

I don't think he is, I think preparing for LSU is easy for him because he knows exactly what our coach will do, with NO changes in approach. Again, if you let Bama sit in their base D package, you will lose.

They build a team the right way.
So do we.
They are just better at it these days.

Agreed. I'm just saying that it appears those other coaches understand how to attack his defense rather than running into the teeth of it's strength.

Yeh, I'm sure they selectively offer 5* recruits based on whether they matchup well against LSU or not. A lot of them, they don't have any use for.

Since the Texas A&M loss and Manziel we have actually changed are recruiting a bit going more for speed than size. You are seeing a lot of those players this year. And we've had some trim down like A Rob for example.
This year we've also decided to sub whether the Offense does or not to get the players we want on the field. And have worked on getting packages in and out quickly.

Alabama builds their defense to stop the run. Coach Saban wants to force you to be one dimensional and then attack your passing game. Coach Miles likes the power run game. Against everyone else, it works pretty well. Against a team that is built to stop the run, it doesn't work as well. To beat them, you need either a great defense or an offense that can pass even when everyone in the country knows you are passing (great quarterback, good receivers, great pass protection). Our pass protection is not so good, and this year our run blocking was not good at all. I would have said Bama knew the snap court and where each play was going prior to the play, except that would lead to real questions about how they did that, like something in the film? Anyway, we can beat people they can't (Manziel A & M) but we won't beat them without a much better passing game or a much better defense.
Sorry, thought I saw a typo.

Typically, it takes OUTSTANDING QB play to beat us....Manziel, Cardale Jones, Kelly (and his tip drill passes and such), Marshall, hell Mettenberg played way over his head to give you guys a legit shot at beating us that year....no great QB play, no chance in hell!!
Only exception - is the 9-6 game and yalls beast D that year!

Saban has said in the past he designed his Bama teams to stop LSU. Not going look it up but he said it. Not surprising anyway. He likes that type of football over the spread stuff.

I do believe there is some truth to what the OP asserts.
Bama's recruiting rarely has holes at any position group every year. I realize LSU has more NFL players than Bama slightly. However, I think they have more cusp players. Guys that are good college players, but not quite good enough for the league.
LSU's D lack of depth is not helping. Clearly LSU is trying to address that this year, but that means other position groups suffer.
I am still lost on the OL, which was touted as possibly the best in the nation. I wasn't expecting rushing for 300 yards like the average, but I felt the Tigers would get 150-200 yards.

Nope. Saban builds his teams his way. Miles copied Saban's approach when he came here (successfully I might add) and Saban has since learned new things as a coach.
Saban looks at LSU and thinks "I know exactly what Miles is trying to do because Miles is still trying to be me" The problem is Miles never adapted like Saban.
That's the cold hard truth but not many will ever accept it.

That's not it. They are built to attack that way. A college team can't just change their offensive personality from week to week. Ours is to ground and pound and throw deep when challenged. I think that's the best way for a major football power to do it. You can't just decide to run read option and toss it all over the place with five wide.

Wow, the hits just keep coming. So Miles was really a Texas style spread coach, but he came here and copied Saban, huh?
I remember those wide open no-defense Michigan teams of my youth. Ahh, those were the days!

But here lately Saban has said he will have to adjust his recruiting due to the spread teams to win and not just beat LSU.

Alabama builds their team to beat everyone. Lsu just presents a different challenge that we must account for in recruiting. We still recruit the Reed's and Robinson's, but lately we have made sure to sign the Tim Williams' and Rashaan Evans' to combat any type of offense we'll face. It's made us a more diverse defense that has adapted with the times, but don't kid yourself; the same things win that have always won. Running, catching, blocking, and tackling. One of our standout players on defense barely got on the field Saturday because he plays nickel.
We essentially have 2-3 starting defense with 5 or 6 guys that overlap on those units. Dillon Lee played a great football game Saturday and barely left the field, he's probably played 15% of our defensive snaps this season
