Wow, the hits just keep coming. So Miles was really a Texas style spread coach, but he came here and copied Saban, huh?

You just answered your own question. Miles completely changed his approach at LSU to reflect Saban's.

Saban's approach, though somewhat adapted now, is still essentially the same as it was 12 years ago.

Stupid post.

They put the best team on the field to win championships. They don't recruit to beat LSU. They recruit 4 and 5 star to win a title, not beat LSU. They have that aspect down really well lately.

Miles likes to do on offense what Saban's defenses are great at stopping. Over and over again Miles fails and never seems to have a "plan B" when the run game is stopped. I guess I will have to wait for Saban to retire for LSU to have a chance at anything more than the chick fil a bowl.

how come saban is that much smarter?

First of all, do you really have to ask that? On the other hand, do you think it might have bitten him in the butt in the last two bowl games (and maybe the last two Ole Miss games)?

Thank you TigerMac81. Upvoted.

I think there is some truth to Bama built to stop us. We are number 2 to them in recruiting. The edge is Bama wins. The moment a crack develops in that armor, it changes.

Yea, we lost to Ole Miss..remind me again what Ole Miss has played for in the last 30 years of life? Opps, lost to Okla. Ouch, brush burn on the loss to Ohio St.

But lose to LSU and the recruiting takes a hit. It erodes from there. Questions start to form...is the end because all things come to an end.

Nick Saban straight up said this a year or two ago, so it is pretty accurate.

Saban has said in the past he designed his Bama teams to stop LSU. Not going look it up but he said it.

No, he didn't. You're confused.

I'm sure you're talking about what he said after the 2014 game.

Nick Saban LSU Postgame Press Conference

He said Alabama is built to beat a team like LSU. Not LSU specifically. College football teams like LSU.

He then goes on to talk about how the league has changed, and how you need smaller, faster players to defend the spread, but how Alabama still has big guys that play the power run.

Sometimes, when your opponent is doing something that is very effective, it helps to adjust your personnel/recruiting in order to give your team a better opportunity for success. This is incredibly obvious. Alabama is not just very effective. They are the premier team in the SEC.

Many on this board seem like they are so confused about what Saban does at Alabama, and why they are so good. Do you not remember what he did at LSU? Do you remember how big the DEs on the 2003-04 Team were (Do you remember how good they were against the run?)?

Still made the playoff and probably will make it again this year.

He just builds a team with interchangeable parts. He builds the best team he can and is not forced too play his DL recruits to early.

Top talent and Kiffin has been great as their OC.

They build their team to beat every single team in the country, this is terrible.

Saban hands are on the defense. He might have to reel Kiffin in, but he's not calling offensive plays. Miles is the exact opposite, as he lets the defensive coordinator run the show, with little interference.
