Do you plan on stalking every game animal you plan to hunt? If you're sitting in a box stand or a ladder stand, what difference does it make?

And if you occasionally want to walk on foot, the M&P10 is about 8 pounds naked. It won't be over 12 pounds unless you load it with shite.

EDIT: 7.71 pounds naked. Add about 1 pound for an optic with rings, and a couple pounds depending on how much ammo you got in the magazine.

Then you don't want an exotic round.

5.56 is the most common rifle round out there. I would say second runner-up would probably be 308 or 30-06.

Try to go into Walmart and find a nice selection of 300BLK. Or even Academy. Your options are severely limited.

Any other exotic round like 6.8 SPC or the one Chat mentioned are only going to be beneficial to you if you reload. If you don't, 5.56 and 308 are going to be your best options.

I vote AR10. Here's a picture for encouragement.

Not anymore. 6.8 has gotten pretty cheap. You can get FMJs 20 @ $9 and hunting ammo from $15-$20.

I'll probably just go AR-10.
