I hated Superman even as a kid in the 70s/80s because he was so one dimensional.

Laziest criticism of Superman ever.

Lazy? What, you want me to write a novel about it or something? Jesus Christ dude, it's not worth getting all bent about.

I liked Superman well enough until I found Spiderman and the X-Men. It was the Spectacular Spiderman books from around 1976 or so that really hooked me. He was down in the grit and grime of New York at that time. And Marvel seemed so much less in love with itself and irreverent than DC did. I know I tried my arse off to win a 'No Prize', but that goal always escaped me.

I did really like the first two Superman movies with Christopher Reeves. I must've seen 'em both a zillion times back then.

But yeah, the Superman books bored the ever loving dog shite out of me. He was too perfect, and impossible to relate too. He wasn't conflicted like Peter Parker or Logan/Wolverine.

All a Superman book was good to me for was just trade bait for a Sgt. Rock or an Unknown Soldier.
