ETA: While I believe it is legitimate probable cause to be stopped for leaving your bright lights on (sign of impairment), I don't see how "flashing" your bright lights quickly should rise to the same level. Especially when the cop admits that there is an issue with his lights and has previously pulled over other vehicles for "flashing" him. Dick move by the cop trying to look for reason to pull people over.

That being said, I believe cop had right to defend himself by using deadly force (even though 7 shots seems excessive) CLEAR AS MUD!

ETA: Answered my own query.

The parents are claiming that it was an “unlawful stop” to begin with, but in fact it is illegal in Michigan to flash your high beams at another driver within 500 feet. It’s a civil infraction that carries a 2-point penalty on your license so yes, you can be pulled over for it.

Yeah a cop goes instigates a fight and kills a kid. Just another day at the office.

At what number of shots would you say it crosses the line from self-defense to an action with malicious intent?
