I watched the "Inside the Episode" video on the AMC website and one of the producers said 30,000 walkers.

So, yeah, that's a shitton of ammunition.

This coupled with the scene where the walkers randomly bump into the walls of Alexandria, bashing their own skulls in, is comical.

True. Someone mentioned earlier in this thread that we'll probably have to wait 2 weeks to find out what happens with the horn and the zombie herd, as next week's preview seems to focus on Alexandria & what happened during the time that Rick & co. were out herding zombies.

This seems likely, with walkers & the herd not being the main threat to Alexandria next week. It seems like none of the herders were back yet in the previews, and they were moving faster than (and somewhat in front of) the herd once they heard the horn..

I suspect the next episode will parallel the season premiere, i.e. the events of the two episodes are happening concurrently. The end of the next episode ends with the horn blast as well. Just speculation on my part though.

I doubt we'll see the end of this predicament anytime soon.

what happens when it fills up? or the horde gets excited enough by some noise or sight to push all in one direction, pile up against the fence and the knock it over or just climb up over other zombies to get over the top.

You can keep expanding the walls/trucks/trailers so that doesn't happen. That would hold you over for a pretty long time.

And IMO the walkers won't "climb up over other zombies to get over the top." Walkers have no brain function in terms of intelligence or thought, so in theory they should just keep walking into each other forever. Outside of that one zombie in the first season who straight up jumped the fence and ran ( ), that doesn't happen (I assume that original one was sort of a mistake/misstep by the creators).

And even still, if it gets to the down the road where the quarry is, in fact, too full, you implement Rick's plan and walk them miles away (and you don't have to do all of them; just enough to get the levels in the quarry back down to manageable).

And the one in Atlanta (season 1) that picked up a rock (or brick?) to break a window.

I think it's understood well enough that seasons one and two had a different show runner who just had a different creative view of the walkers. This crappy guy on Youtube explains it well.

Watching FtWD only made me long for this show more. Thank goodness it's back...Great episode!

I definitely think the horn was a distress signal due to the wolves attacking, not an intentional sabotage.

I kind of think that as well. Maybe the wolves ran a semi truck through the front gate (destroying it) and left an opened walker bomb trailer on their way out?

Son of a bitch, I hope this isn't where they're going with it. Zombie herd destroys Alexandria and Team Rick has to hit the road again only this time with a bunch of rookies.

Without Diana or his potential dick glove around to try to impress, he would probably just kill the "rookies" and get them out of the way. He was obviously ready to let them die when the three or four zombies ambushed them while building the corral at that bend in the road.

I enjoyed the black and white scenes. Nice little homage to the comics and a clever way to show past scenes without confusing some of the audience (because you know it would).

I did not take the black and white scenes as homage because I have not read the comics (and do not know where the story is about to go), but I saw it as scenes from a past way of life. The peaceful times in Alexandria are now over with the Wolves around and the zombie herd moving towards their homes.

I don't think so. I remember discussing that, and most of us figured it was just in his hand and he wasn't "trying" to break the window with it.

At least that's what I remember about it...it's been a while since I've seen S1.

I think literally the only reason scenes were in black and white was to differentiate between timelines. B&W scenes were previous happenings/flashbacks/fill-ins, and color was current.

Sure, the comics may be in B&W, but I don't think it was any deeper than separating the times.

Season 1 had an athletic walker climb a fence and jump over.

Is Carol forced to give up the charade in episode 2 in order to protect herself, the group, and the Alexandrians?

I dont see how not. She was running around with a gun in her hand.

Question: Why did a lot of people post that the preview made it seem like people were attacking Alexandria and not walkers? I didnt get that vibe, just that we dont know what was going on besides them defending themselves.

It felt like they were moving around trying to evade alive humans. I could be off, but they looked like they were more worried about remaining unseen rather than unheard. Walkers typically react to the noises rather than seeing something.
