Auburn game set to be HOTTEST ever

Western Carolina in 2000 was a damn oven, and the hottest I've ever been to thus far was the Monday nighter after Rita against Tennessee in 2005. Not only was it hot, but it was about 140% humidity the whole day. It was hard to fricking breath...

Yeah...it'll be hot but we've done this before.

You sure? App state was pretty damn hot

Definitely the hottest I've ever been too. Nearly everyone's shirts were drenched by the end of the first quarter. T'was miserable.

Can't believe no one has mentioned Saban's 1st game against Western Carolina. It was 97 at kickoff. Scroll to bottom.

That was the first game that came to my mind too. Stadium ran out of water. After that game, they allowed fans to start bringing water bottles in. And isn't the heat the real reason we started playing at night anyway?

There are plenty of games for CBS and others to choose from - they shouldn't be allowed to schedule day games in Aug/Sep in the Deep South - the game shouldn't be about which team can avoid cramps and heat stroke the longest….

That's my thoughts on it too. There are alot of games not in the South they could pick atleast till mid October.

As someone else said could LSU have refused the game because of safety? Not like they would put safety over money unfortunantly. Except when there is lightning which is less dangerous percentage wise than say heat stroke

Another vote for App State, it was brutal. Tenn 05 was hot tailgating but the game was at night, it doesn't compare to App State. Florida 2013 was pretty hot too.

I'm actually not a big fan of bitching about the heat and such...but this is actually a pretty solid point. The NCAA has guidelines set up to protect players and fans during weather events...particularly lightning. Not arguing there...probably a good plan.

But...how many athletes/fans have been injured or killed even before this rule went into effect versus how many have been injured or died due to heat related issues? It can't even be close, can it?

Sadly, it'll take an on the field death attributable to nothing but the heat before this becomes an issue that will have to be addressed.

There are going to be a lot of heat casualties.

I know they are preventable and self inflicted, but it's going to happen

It's fully up to CBS. LSU can't argue their first choice to play us at 2:30. Any other time they request it, Alleva can say no. SEC rules I believe.

Yeah, and it was forecasted to be like 5 degrees cooler than this Saturday. My wife was pretty much furious with me going into the stadium because it was one big herd walking in just baking under the sun.

True but I think a discussion could be had before CBS makes that decision.

"Guys, Baton Rouge in September? Maybe we should consider the heat and humidity factor."

Most uncomfortable game for me was Tenn '05. Couldn't breath.

Worst Monday night of my life. Not only was it hot and humid as hell it was the worst coaching display in LSU history.

I'm sure this will be tough on the players, but you guys have watched a CBS game before, right

There's going to be a ton of commercial breaks and opportunities to rest. Wont fully offset the intense heat, but it will help
