Got a job offer out in Plano, 99% chance I'm going to take it.

I'm coming from the greater Orlando area, so it seems like a certain upgrade, but wanted to see if anyone on the OT lives there or spent time there to get their thoughts on the area.

Got a couple of young kids, so looking in the Frisco-McKinney border area as of now for housing to get access to good schools.

Live in SW Frisco. It's clean, safe, great schools. It's a beautiful bubble to raise kids in. Most people are in the 30-50 year old range with kids. Easy to meet people and make friends. Won't live here after my kiddo is grown but am very happy to raise him here.

I've lived in McKinney & Frisco for the past 12 years. I work up here and am very familiar with the area you're checking out.

We prefer the Frisco schools to McKinney, mainly because Frisco seems dedicated to having schools that are a little smaller. McKinney basically has three pretty damn big high schools and Frisco has 7 or 8 medium size schools. I know some that prefer bigger schools - but we like where we're at.

It's really easy to get to Dallas, and this area is great for kids. If you have any specific questions, I'll answer as best I can.

You'll not run into any issues honestly except for the sheer density of people there now. Yes, hoods are tight lot lines and traffic is heavy but everyone around you deals with the same issue. It's a nice quality of living for upper mid class and typical of what anyone would enjoy around the area. Does it have a UP ease to high caliber eateries? No. But a date night drive south is cool if you want it to be.

I am about to move there from Houston, only doing so because my wife took the kids and filed for divorce up there.

From what I can tell the Dallas area sucks compared to Houston.

I grew up in Plano...great area for family and schools and a 15-20 minute drive to downtown Dallas and plenty of things to do in the north Dallas/Plano/Frisco areas.

We moved to Frisco back in March and we love it. We picked Frisco because of the schools. 70% of our property tax goes to the INDEPENDENT school district.

We really liked Willow Bend but found a more move in ready home in a nice neighborhood in Frisco.

Whit poeple, dry county, mellow, fast growing area, about 2 trillion kids and soccer moms errwhere. West(new) Mckinney is where I was two years ago. Brookstone. Kids went to Elliot elementary, Spanish Schoolhouse and Imagine Academy. Frisco ISD is great and all of the sub divisions are nice. There's a Cheaper than Dirt there in Mckinney and Cabelas in Allen. ....Allen, the high school with the 60mil football stadium.

To me, this area just seems so cookie-cutter and boring. Great place to raise a family though I suppose.

Just a FYI but you can get an in and out burger in the area. I spend a lot of time in plano for work. Always lots of choices to eat. Always felt relatively safe. Seems to be clean. Nice area.

Great area honestly. I lived in Addison (basically still North Dallas) before moving into Uptown but the Plano-Frisco area is really nice.

If demographics are a factor you should check this out. Many different neighborhoods even within the same city.

I lived in Frisco for 14 years. My daughter graduated from Centennial High School, which was the second of now 9 high schools. We have now moved 20 miles north of Frisco to Celina. Frisco was great in the beginning but has gotten too big. When we moved there in 2000 the population was 35,000, now it is above 150,000 and doesn't show signs of slowing. It is a diverse city mostly whites with alot of Asians and alot of Muslims and a handful of blacks. We moved to Celina with an 8th grade son and he is loving it. It is a town of maybe 6000 and has that small town feel, but it is growing as well. This town is all about high school football and fellowship. It is far enough out to not be bothered by traffic but close enough to the city to be able to go and do the city things that some like.
