I can't seem to find a Chevy Suburban or Yukon XL built the way I'd like it (or need for a few of the options). Do they still do some dealing, or do they want full price for you chance to get everything custom. Even on the build it yourself site they seem to steer (haha) you towards similar vehicles on the lot. Custom ordering seems commonplace with German vehicles, but I've just never done it domestically. Any idea on wait times?

you'll soon realize you don't need a $2,000 sunroof or some of the retarded features they offer for a ridiculous price

You're going to have to shop dealers to see who will give you the best deal. It will take more effort, but you can still get a similar deal as an on the lot unit. I'll likely be ordering my next vehicle because I'm very particular about what I want. Wait times just depends on where you order in the cycle. Right ow, you can't order a 2015 anymore, so you'll be waiting a little longer to get a 2016. If you order in say March, you should likely have it by the end of May.

I ordered my F150 the way I wanted it

I negotiated the same as I would for one on the lot.

It took 4 weeks to the day when I received it

You will still be subject to the packages that are standard. I.e. You won't be able to get factory installed leather on an entry level trim, etc

Hard to imagine you can't find one somewhere with everything you want through one of the car sites. I traveled 500 miles for my Vette. Someone, somewhere, has what you want.

What's that? I believe they went extinct in the early 80s.

It's the end of the year. Might as well wait for the new models to come out if that's your plan.

For a ford or Lincoln it takes 6 to 8 weeks. It may be too late to order a 15 though.

I am like you...particular about what I want.

My brother was shopping for a ford. Could not find the one he wanted. Dealer told him to special order, and gave him a better deal. I would think that they would prefer special order as its not sitting on their lot costing them money, and maybe this helps with lowering transportation costs for their lot vehicles?
