Here's the deal, I have migraine headaches on a fairly regular basis. Usually have a migraine once every other month or so. Until recently. I've had 4 migraines in the past 6 days and needless to say, it's been a miserable week. I also believe a wisdom tooth is coming in due to some irritation in my gums and when I rub my tongue against the area, I detect a slight taste of blood. So my question is, has anyone here experienced migraines as a side effect of wisdom tooth eruption?

Had mine removed during my spring break. The painkillers they give you are fun.

Wisdom Teeth staying in is usually never a good idea. You need to find a good oral surgeon, have him put you under the happy gas and you'll wake up with them problem teeth yanked out. Enjoy the painkillers, mashed potatoes and jello after.

Do not get them removed at a dentist. It's like a psychiatrist removing a tumor from your brain when a neurosurgeon should be doing that. And they both deal with the brain.

Rip those bad boys out. You'll be doped up on vicodin after it for a few days so don't worry.

What Sentrius said. Find a good oral surgeon, and the shite is over with before you even know what's happening. Literally nothing was painful during the process.

There may be a chamce that TMJ issues are causing your migraines. You should have that evaluated to rule it out as a cause as well. Dentists are more than qualified to remove CERTAIN wisdom teeth. Many wisdom teeth, especially uppers, have very small cone-shaped roots that roll right out. They can be, in fact, some of the easiest teeth to remove. However, for wisdom teeth that require considerable surgical intervention, an oral surgeon and sedation will make the process much easier. Nothing I hate more than dentists who try to handle cases that are over their head.

If you get them out, make sure to follow the surgeons advice very carefully on taking care of the wounds. You DO NOT want a dry socket.

prepare to have problems with lower jaw wisdoms.

prepare to drool, perhaps forever, if they damage the nerve that controls your bottom lip and chin while scraping them out. It runs close to the roots of your lower wisdoms if they are turned sideways.

prepare to have the procedure done in a room where a defibulator is in reach. (I found this most shocking)

If you've ever done drugs, narcotics or opiates, prepare for the dose sodium pentothal Or whatever they give you)to wear off, and you can experience the joy of surgeon standing in your lap with both hands in your mouth and nurses hands too yelling and cussing trying to yank out your teeth.

prepare to disclose honestly and truthfully the answers to all questions you are asked while under. They will ask you questions for kicks.

Prepare to eat soup for two weeks, then prepare to be absolutely crushed by dry socket for two additional weeks or more. You will not be able to move once dry socket sets in and no drugs work. They will pack the gaping abscesses with witch hazel and wish you luck.

Hope this helps and puts you at ease. God speed you black emperor.

I've never experienced them personally since I had mine removed before they erupted, but I do know that is a common side effect. I used to work for an oral surgeon.
