People constantly say this, but it seems like such a cop out.

Who is the constituency to whom this is an "untouchable" idea? It seems completely asinine. Anyone can exit at Nicholson or Dalrymple and travel on the surface streetsto the area of the Washington exit in two minutes or less at any time of day.

Touching it would be racist, and as such you can't do it. You'll never hear someone go on the record saying that, but it's how it is.

someone is just going to have to make the decision to do it and not worry about being called a racist. that exit is a choke point to a major interstate. it holds up commerce every day.

Honestly, I don't see how this would affect more than a few houses in the area. Why not add a new exit coming off of the ramp to take 110 North? It could wrap around and meet up with Thomas Delpit/East Blvd.

Just looking at the map, there is plenty of room to expand 10 with at least 1-2 lanes without encroaching on the neighboring houses (with the Washington exit ramps removed). They already have the interstate in their front yards, what would another lane matter to them. The real problem lies where you get closer to the lakes and the houses off of E Lakeshore. Those are much closer to the interstate and would be cause a huge issue with expansion.
