Why? Because they failed to mention the MUTO's and GZ in the 5 second setup during the opening scene in Pacific Rim?
Seriously, if Pacific Rim 2 starts off with them detecting a new Kajiu, and it turns out to be Godzilla, and Always Sunny starts spouting off about "After the MUTO incident in 2014, we thought he was dead!" and then they say literally nothing else about it, would you mind? Would that require any more suspension of disbelief than a bunch of 300ft tallk robots fighting monsters?

I really couldn't care less about continuity issues. I just want to see some gigantic robots fighting some gigantic monster god damnit. This needs to happen.
