Just purchased my first gun safe. A few questions

Bought a Cannon Safari 42 gun safe from Academy last night. Not sure how good the brand is, but I'm sure it's a decent starter safe. I actually ordered the 36 gun safe that's on sale for $600, but it never came in. So I called the store in Hammond yesterday looking for it and the manager told me that she didn't know where my safe was, but that she'd give me the 42 gun for the same price. So I paid $600 for a $900 safe 
Anyway, I'm new to this and I had a few questions:
1) The safe will be placed in a spare bedroom on carpet and I do not plan on bolting it down. What do you suggest putting on the floor between the carpet and safe? I was thinking of building some sort of platform out of 2x4s and plywood or buying some kind of rubbing matting
2) The safe does not have a power supply for a dehumidifier. Is there an easy way to run power to the safe without altering the fire rating? What are the best alternatives to removing humidity if an electric humidifier is not an option?

I wouldn't put anything down. I would just leave it on the carpet.
Ideslly, they would have a home in the back for you to run a couple cords through. If not, there are several options for moisture absorbing packs. I think you just put them in the oven every once and a while to dry them out again. I would also put a touch light in there if you can't run a real one.

Also, I suggest that anyone looking to make a large purchase from Academy, BP, Cabelas, etc. look into buying 2nd hand gift cards online. I paid about $560 for $700 worth of giftcards. Earlier this year I bought a rifle using $1000 worth of gift cards that I paid $820 for

A platform of 2x4s isnt necessary. Just put a piece of plywood down. That will be enough to distribute the load some, but really its just making sure you dont tear the carpet.
The safe should have a hole in the back at the bottom to allow you to run a power cord into/out of the safe. I use a goldenrod dehumidifier rod. You can get desicant for a no power option but you will need to change them every so often.

If the safe is a bedroom, does it need a de-humidifier?

I wouldn't think so, but I didn't want to take any chances. I may just get some of those silica gel packets or one of those rechargeable wireless dehumidifiers and throw in there to be safe.

It shouldnt unless you have temperature swings (AC off or turned way up while your on vacation for a week) or accidently put something away that is still wet.

There should be a cover that pops off on the exterior, but you probably will have to drill through the inner liner - Its basically about like drilling through thick drywall.

Not beating you up, but there's little point to buying the safe - they'll just take the safe. Any dedicated person who gets access to your home without you being there will get the guns - that is no question, but if you're not going to bolt it down, you could have spent $150 or so on a metal cabinet - that would provide basic security against little ones and normal burglars, or other people who have casual, regular access to the home.

Yeah - I use the plug in, rechargeable ones - you want the newer "orange" ones, because the older ones are toxic.
And, to cut down on moisture, you can leave it open, most of the time, and only close it when you leave. Adds a hassle to your procedure, but cuts down on the corrosion issue.

I highly recommend the rubber stall mats from Tractor Supply - they're cheap, thick and durable. I floored my home gym with them. 3/4" of dense rubber made from recycled tires. You can cut to fit. Be advised, they weigh like 75 to 100 pounds, but you'll be able to use it for several applications.

Idk about OP's weight on his safe but there is no way in frick someone could move my Liberty. It is just too damn heavy. We didnt bolt it so we wouldn't ruin our marble but since we alway turn on the house alarm and the safe is too heavg to move, we arent worried.

Not saying I'm the exclusion to the rule, but two years ago my house was broken into. I had no alarm and no safe. My guns where all stored in one of the old wooden gun cabinet's. They took everything they could, plus some, from the house but never touched the guns.
I now have a liberty fat boy bolted down, but I think that's more for peace of mind.

I said I wasn't beating the guy up - these commerically produced and sold gun safes, even Liberty and Fort Knox involve some compromises - even if you go for a "true" safe, configured for guns (like Graffunder, for example) - there are compromises. As long as you understand them and make the choices consciously, you have no problems with me. Just don't pretend the budget Cannon from Academy or Browning (whatever) from Wal-Mart or Sam's is a real deterrent to a motivated gun thief. Or all that much fire protection (although it is obviously, better than nothing).
In your case, you went more upmarket (Liberty) and bolted it down. Those efforts will increase the utility of the safe and deter all but the most dedicated and capable gun thiefs.
