Not beating you up, but there's little point to buying the safe - they'll just take the safe. Any dedicated person who gets access to your home without you being there will get the guns - that is no question, but if you're not going to bolt it down, you could have spent $150 or so on a metal cabinet - that would provide basic security against little ones and normal burglars, or other people who have casual, regular access to the home.
I knew this issue was going to be brought up. I actually had my explanation typed out in my OP, but I deleted it b/c I was getting long winded

I have a monitored wireless alarm system on my home. I seriously doubt someone is going to stick around attempting to move a 500# (empty weight) when shite hits the fan. I'm more concerned with fire and petty thiefs who make a quick run through the house just looking for shite to grab. I only plan on being in this house for another 5 years and I didn't want to damage the surface under the safe anymore than I have to.

All these things are good for is a false sense of security when you aren't home.

How did you get it in there?

I had them move it it. The point I am making is that no average robber will bring the type of stuff required to move my safe down several steps. Also, it barely fits through the doors. It would take some time. By that time my German Shepherd will have attacked them, the alarm would sound, and someone would be there (eventually).

My safe is 700 lbs empty. Even loaded down with guns, I could get it out of the house, by myself in 5 minutes. I think a couple people could get out a much heavier safe without any issue.

If it's not bolted down, it can be taken. Not that it will, they may pass on it, but it can be

Eta: stairs would make it much more difficult.

I would agree if I lived in the middle of nowhere without neighbors for a mile, but I live in a subdivision with houses 100' from mine on each side and both of my neighbor's wives do not work during the day. So someone is around the majority of the time.

Ha. I'm good.

But a furniture dolly is your friend. Once you get it on there, there's nothing to it

I would reinforce the fireproofing, then. There are tons of videos out there - find those where they burn your safe, and then see if you feel "safe" with it. Again, better than nothing, but many folks are shocked to find what burns in a gun safe. There are lifehack and other type videos showing you how to add fireproofing.

42 guns plus ammo adds a lot of weight.

Not impossible, but add 42 guns to that, and they're going to be a while getting that safe out the door.

No need to take the whole safe. Any burglar going into a house knowing there is a safe will bring a long pry bar. If the safe is not bolted down, they will lay it on its back to get the leverage and weight to pry the door open.
Best thing to do is keep it hidden from guests and bolt it down in the corner of a room with the hinges away from the adjacent wall. This will leave very little room for prying the door open.

For best fire safety, have it on an exterior wall where the fire is coolest, and preferably near the front of the house where firemen will get to the fire first with the hose.

I have never even heard of gift card granny. Seems like a good idea but the buyer protection is a must have in that situation.

Mind if I ask how much you paid for the gift cards and to what amount did they equal?

For the safe purchase I paid $574.26 for $702 in gift cards. I purchased them from Gift Card Zen. I checked their reviews before purchasing and I felt comfortable buying from them. They shipped the cards immediately after I bought them and I received them in about 5 days

I'll have to go back and check the exact break down regarding my rifle purchase. I bought some of the giftcards from Craigslist. The rest I got from Gift Card Bin. I remember saving about 17-18% from buying from Gift Card Bin. I did get slightly better deals on Craigslist, but I was hesitant to make purchases with a lot of the people. I saved around $200 when I purchased my rifle.
