Just saw this on the News-Star's website... LINK

quote:

The plans call for the existing visitor side, on the west side of the field, to be torn down and replaced by a new 5,500-seat home stands which will include a new state-of-the-art press box and would greatly expand the seating capacity of the stadium that opened in 1953

quote:

The current seating capacity of the stadium is 9,100. The seating capacity will be near 12,000 following its completion. Other amenities include new bathrooms and concession stands to enhance fan experience at games. New parking is expected to be part of the expansion as well.

Is this the rendering?

This is the current press box, which was actually expanded in the late 90s.

I went there for a playoff game several years ago and the atmosphere was impressive. If that is the rendering it looks awesome

That's an old picture that's been in Coney Island for years. Not sure if that's what it will look like exactly. Guess they're expecting a championship this year. Attendance has dropped a bit since no title in 3 years.

Please tell me that's not a "club" level area on the sides of the pressbox.

i like how on louisianasportsline like 90% of the posts are about North LA teams...

guess that happens when you have Tech, ULM, and Grambling for college teams

So it's somehow a knock on north la that more people post from there on Louisianasportsline. And how does this have anything to do with north la being backwards. I can almost guarantee you that West Monroe is funding this on their own and don't worry about that school it already has a crazy amount of resources it pours into the academic side. It is crazy all the options a kid there has.

And what does south la have for college sports after LSU? A bunch of programs just like the smaller north LA schools is the answer.

Last time I checked Louisiana, THE ENTIRE STATE, is in the deep south where high school and college football is king. The ones bitching about West Monroe and high school football must be pissed off Saints fans. $400 million state tax payer dollars to the richest man in Louisiana is ok? If you dont like dont comment on it and stick with your city team.

This line of thinking is the exact reason why East Side High hasn't beaten WM in any sport since I left the halls on Millhaven.

I can't believe they stole that idea from NC State basketball.

Probably 98% of Saints fans are also LSU fans.

You, however, never miss a chance to bitch about the saints

Saints local viewership is pretty damn impressive for being 3rd on your made up list.

High school football is king in very few places in louisiana

What does an NFL team and one's allegiance to said team have to do with me thinking people in NLA, particularly WM, are fricking bizarre in their obsession with high school football?
